Upcoming events
We have a lot of upcoming events which I think will be a lot of fun for us. Be sure to look for the latest Compact Flash in your inbox for any updates. Click the "Read More" link to see all of the events.
1. Skip's next Monthly Field trip will be Saturday, Feb 12th at the Hermitage Museum. We will meet at 11:00AM near the entrance. Cost is free to shoot in the garden and other outside areas, but if you want to go in the museum, there is a cost. However, remember, there is no photography allowed in the museum.
2. The March monthly field trip will be to Red Wing Park in Virginia Beach. We will meet at 11:00AM at the park on March 26th. With any luck, the cherry blossoms will be in bloom. More details as we get closer.
3. The April field trip will be to Harbor Park. We have been given permission to come to the park on April 23rd, prior to the gates opening to shoot the park while it is empty. We will also be allowed to stay once the gates open and shoot the crowd and game in progress (the game starts at 7:15). At the end of the game they will be shooting fireworks. We will also be receiving about four media passes. The way we will decide who gets the media passes will be based on members that participate in the most club activities between now and then will get first choice to receive the passes. Club activities include the monthly membership meetings, focus groups, field trips, online and print competitions, etc. Members with media passes will have free entrance. All others will have to pay admission, but we are working on receiving a group discount. Again, more details as we get closer.

5. Focus Groups - Wedding and Portrait group will meet at 6:30 on Tuesday, February 8th at ECPI room 410. Greg will be having a lawyer discuss taxes involved in selling your photos or operating a photography business. If time permits, a discussion on inexpensive ways to educate yourself in photography will close the meeting.
6. Education group will NOT be meeting this month.
7. Lane workshop. We have done the Lane Workshop several times in the past. It has always been a very popular event. They have us penciled in for Saturday, March 5th, 8:00AM-4:00PM more or less. They will stay later if need be.

The way it works is we get half a day of classroom instruction at ECPI, and then we go to the Chesapeake Arboretum to take pictures. They give everyone one-on-one attention, and is considered by many to be an excellent opportunity for anyone who attends.
The Lanes won’t accept more than 20 people because they believe they can’t give individual attention to more than 10 people each.
They are giving us a really reduced rate one-day rate. They usually charge $800 – 900 a person for weekend shoots. There will be more details very soon, and we will be accepting RSVPs to determine if there is enough interest. If you are interested in attending, please contact Skip Morrow or Joan Grippo.

The next board meeting is Thursday, Feb 17th. We plan the club's events and activities at these board meetings, and they are open to all club members. We meet at 6:30 PM at Atlanta Bread Co near Lynnhaven Mall.
The next membership meeting is Tuesday, March 1st. The print competition theme is "Open". Stay tuned for more details about the presentation.
Annual Membership dues are due now. In fact, if you are a current member, you are now overdue if you have not paid.
