Lane Workshop 2011

We have participated in the Lane Workshop several times in the past.  It has always been a very popular event.  They have us penciled in for Saturday, March 5th, 8:00AM-4:00PM more or less.  They will stay later if need be.

The way it works is they provide a half a day of classroom instruction at ECPI, and then we go to the Chesapeake Arboretum to practice what they taught us.  They give everyone one-on-one attention and it is considered by many to be an excellent opportunity for anyone who attends. We get to practice what they teach us, especially about exposure. (They are experts when it comes to teaching proper exposure.)

To obtain the most out of the instruction, members need to know how to use the manual settings before they take the class. Members are welcome to take the class and then use the Program setting, but it is geared to teach us manual settings. So everyone should at least read the manual that came with the camera and be able and willing to learn manual settings to get the most out of the experience.

The cost is $50 per person.  The Lanes won’t accept more than 20 people because they believe they can’t give individual attention to more than 10 people each. They are giving us a really reduced rate one-day rate.  They usually charge $800 – 900 a person for weekend shoots. However, we need at least 14 people to participate in order to pay the fee that they are charging us.

We are now taking reservations for this workshop.  We need to let the Lane's know by Friday, Feb 25th how many are going.  If you want to attend this workshop, pay via PayPal below by Feb 25th.  If there are at least 14 people, we will be able to do the trip.  If there are less than 14, the trip will not be able to happen.  In that case, you will be refunded your $50. However, we cannot accept individual refunds. In other words, if you sign up, but later decide you need to cancel, we will not be able to refund your money unless we find a replacement for you. But if the entire workshop is canceled for any reason, all people who have registered will get a refund.

If you are interested in attending, please contact Skip Morrow or Joan Grippo if you have any questions.

What to bring: As much as you like to carry. Bring the camera and lenses you like to use the most. Bring filters (a circular polarizer and/or ND gradient), tripod, bug spray, lunch and a willingness to learn! Check their website for more ideas: http://www.lanephotoworkshops.com/bring.htm
